Food Share// CONCEPT
I’ve been passionate about food waste for a long time. I decided to use my background in business and design to see what type of solution I could come up with that might help have a positive impact on a very serious global problem. I created an app concept and business model that was ready for development. The app had a sustainable business model and was ready for VC (venture capital) pitching. Although this was many years ago I haven’t seen us make much progress toward solving this problem in our society so maybe I’ll get back to this some day and take it to market.
PURPOSE
Leverage the power of our social instincts
Create a tool that facilitates users to do what they’re already doing but in a way that’s safer and more effective
The app needed to strike an emotional chord to ensure that users would at least give it a try
Reinforce safety from the start and at every step within the user flow

I created and designed a food-sharing app that will empower a rapidly growing national and worldwide community of “food swappers” along with everyday people who are conscious about food waste. Through my research on food waste - the numbers I found were staggering. I knew that an app has the potential to go a long way in helping to address this growing problem by enabling a single individual the power to make a change for themselves that would ultimately affect humanity on a global level. This app has many features that will make its use both enjoyable, engaging, and enlightening.
